Tang v Maryland

Tang v Maryland Tang 1-8 Maryland 1-8 Tang played neighbours Maryland on Sunday morning in Tang on a sunny Easter Sunday morning. Tang playing with the aid of a strong breeze started the game well with Aidan Burke kicking 1-3 with John Rock providing the pass for the goal. However Maryland found the Tang net soon after when Tang's defence were caught ball watching and allowed Maryland's forwards inside unmarked. William Flanagan, Martin Rock and Aidan added pts to stretch their lead 1-6 to 1- 1. Tang were guilty of wasting possession on three or four occasions when they had Maryland under pressure and the score remained at that at the interval. Maryland had the advantage of a strengthening breeze in the second half and soon had reduced the lead to two pts. Tang were making little headway with the Maryland half back completely on top and the Tang full forwards were starved of possession. Tang suffered further when Sean Egan received a second yellow. Sean will feel aggrieved especially with the first card as he seemed to be pulled to ground. Maryland drew level with two more pts. Tang then were reduced to thirteen when William Flanagan received his marching order when he and three Maryland players were in a cafuffle on the ground, peculiar how only one received a red card. Maryland kicked a pt to lead by one. Tang showed great character when the English brothers and Rock brothers just took the game to Maryland. Aidan Burke kicked a tremendous free into the wind to equalise and then Martin Rock soloed through, passed to Aidan who founded Conor Marlow who sent a terrific pt between the posts to lead by a pt. Niall Neary, a late substitute intercepted a short kick out and was unlucky to see his shot drift agonising left and wide. James Ganley kicked a late pt for Maryland to draw the match and both teams shared a pt. Both teams will think they could have won but Tang will the happier coming back against the odds.
