Tang v Ballynacargy

Tang v Ballynacargy Tang 1-12 Ballynacargy 1-12 Tang played Ballynacargy in the second round of the championship in Rosemount on Sunday morning last. Ballynacargy started brightly taking the match to Tang and were unlucky not to score a couple goals with Tang’s keeper Michael Galvin coming to the rescue with two point blank saves. Ballynacargy had the better of the first half taking a two point lead but a strong finish from Tang saw Martin Rock, Aidan Burke and a long range effort from Trevor English add three pts to level the match at 7pts apiece. The second half saw both teams exchange pts before Tang took the lead for the first time with a fine individual goal from Martin Rock. However Tang’s joy was short lived when a long delivery into the Tang fullback line saw Ballynacargy’s corner forward grab the ball and fired it to the roof of the net. Tang subs Chris Connor and Sean Egan proved valuable as they got on a lot of ball and helped swing the match in Tang’s favour. Both teams exchanged pts with Robert English kicking a superb pt and William Flanagan kicked a neat pt to draw the match with five mins to go. Ballynacargy then lost a defender to a red card but this appeared to spurn Ballynacargy on and indeed only a superb goal line save from Kieran Duncan kept Tang in the match. Bal added a pt to take the lead but Aidan Burke pointed superbly with a late free to draw the match and a share of the spoils. Best for Tang were goalie Micheal Galvin, defenders Kieran Duncan and Robert English, midfielders Trevor English , Niall Bannon and up front Aidan Burke and Martin Rock. Tang will look for an improvement next weekend when Castletown/Finea/Coole/Whitehall provide the opposition with a match on Saturday in the Downs, Mullingar. Team Michael Galvin, Christopher McCann, Kieran Duncan, Michael Bannon, Sean Coughlan, Robert English (Capt), Ian Coughlan, Trevor English,Conor Marlowe, Lee Coughlan, Niall Bannon, Niall Neary, William Flanagan, Aidan Burke, Martin Rock, Sean Egan, John Rock, John Salmon , Colm Donoghue, Owen Coughlan, Colm Conlon, Alan Higgins Martin Donoghue, Dean Reddin, Alan Murray, Niall Lynn.
