Tang 1-12 Ballynacargy 0-7

Tang 1-12 Ballynacargy 0-7 Tang continued their good league form with a win over Ballynacargy last Sunday afternoon. A strong wind and with conditions slippery underfoot meant this was always going to be a game of two halves. Tang won the toss and elected to play with the wind and reaped the rewards in the first half. Trevor English opened the scoring with a long range point before Martin Rock opened his account with a well taken point. Martin Rock was denied a goal with an excellent save from the Ballynacargy goalie. Conor Marlow pointed the resulting 45, before Alan Higgins palmed the ball into an empty net after a nice flick from Niall Bannon put him through. Tang continued to push on using the wind advantage to kick good scores through Darragh Burke, Robert English and three from Aidan Burke. Probably the most important factor of this first half performance was Tang’s ability to keep Ballynacargy scoreless through some excellent defending from Conor Marlow, Chris Connor and Sean Coughlan. The second half was always going to be a different affair and so it proved with Ballynacargy quick out of the blocks registering three points on the trot. Tang responded with an Aidan Burke free. Ballynacargy continued to pile on the pressure but the Tang defence stood strong with good defending, particularly from John Rock and Dean Reddin, prevented any goal chances and limited Ballynacargy to a couple of points. Tang took hold of midfield in the last fifteen minutes through Fergus Farrell and Trevor English and further scores from Aidan Burke and a well worked team move finished off with a point from Martin Rock sealed the win. This was another good team performance from Tang allowing them to chalk up their third league victory in a row.
