Tang 0-12 Mullingar Shamrocks 2-10

Tang 0-12 Mullingar Shamrocks 2-10 Tang made the trip to Springfield to take on County Champions Mullingar Shamrocks in the Div1 league. Tang started well and were a pt up and then Tommy Lennon was unlucky to see his shot came back off the crossbar after a fine movement. Mullingar Shamrocks responded well adding a pt and then were awarded a goal after a goalmouth scramble Disaster struck again when Mullingar Shamrocks finished a fine move to the net. However Tang dug deep and adding eight pts before the break, Adam Neary was in sublime form kicking some glorious pts and Aidan Burke also adding a brace and along with a range effort from Niall Neary. Tang trailed 2-5 to 0-9 at the interval. Tang enjoyed a good start to the second half. Tang were defending very well with Kieran Duncan and Keelin Galvin in top form and John Rock leading the half back line. Tang drew level through Aidan Burke and Shane Coughlan landing fine pts. Tang did spurn a couple of chances to take the lead at this stage but found it difficult to score into the strong breeze. Mullingar Shamrocks showed their true champion worth and finished the match in style adding four pts to claim a well-deserved victory. This is Tang’s first defeat in the league and no doubt is a good learning curve against one of the top teams. Tang played their next match on Friday next in Lakepoint against St Lomans. .
