Maryland-Tang overcome Garrycastle in Minor semi Maryland-Tang 0-10 Garrycastle 0-06 Maryland/Tang played Garrycastle in the Div 2 Minor championship semi-final in Tubberclair on Sunday last. Maryland/Tang went into the match underdogs after suffering a heavy defeat in the league to the same opponents but clearly Maryland/Tang were well up for this match. Maryland/Tang took the match to their fancied opponents and at one stage in the first half led 5pts to one thanks mainly to midfielders Conor Marlow and Fergus Farrell who gave a majestic display of high fielding. Garrycastle fought back well towards the end of the half to reduce the deficit to one pt on a scoreline of 0-6 to 0-5. Maryland/Tang really won this match early in the second half adding four pts to extend their to five pts and try as they might all Garrycastle could muster was a pt against a excellent Maryland/Tang defence where all six backs stood tall. Only for some back finishing , Maryland/Tang would have been out of sight. This was a terrific performance by Maryland/Tang with everyone playing their part and now look forward to a final showdown with Malachy's/Ballinagore.
