Fixture: Tang v the Downs

Tang V The Downs DIV 1 LEAGUE TANG V THE DOWNS ON WED 14th Tang 0.13 The Downs 2.08 A cracking contest between tang and the downs took place under lights on the 3g pitch in st.lomans on wedensday night. Tang got off to the worst possible start and with twenty minutes gone on the clock the downs looked on course to easily take all points from this div 1 game with the score at 2.05 to tangs six points. Scores remained the same at the break. After the break and a chat with management tang ripped into this game and the downs were meet with a very different tang team.Players in all sections of the pitch cranked up the pressure as tang went in search of the scores that would get them back into this game.In tangs first sortie into the downs half aiden burke reduced the deficit with a well taken point.Dean reddin and Owen coughlan then came close as tang owned the ball in the first ten minutes of this half. Then william flannigan was unfortunate not to have sneaked the goal tang were pressing for as his shot was half blocked, looped over the downs keeper and the bar for a point. The tang back lines worked fiercely together hunting the downs players in packs whenever they had the ball and managed to confine them to three points in the second half (two from frees) calling the shots in the downs.A resurgent tang on the other hand scored seven with main marksman aiden burke, martin rock and colm conlon getting on the score sheet.Nail neary and fergus farrell were introduced at this stage. In tangs last attack and a point down martin rock could have secured the draw at the death only for the umpire at the town end to wave his high curling shot cruelly wide. Tang can take hart but must learn from this game in the top tier.Their second half display can only show them that they are well capable of playing division one football with the big teams.
