Club History: 1995

1995 1995 UNDER 12 CHAMPION “B” FINAL Heroic Maryland/Tang under 12’s defeated. On Saturday afternoon last in Springfield, Bunbrosna thanks to a final quarter sequence of scores emerged as Westmeath u-12’s “B” Champions for 1995 when overcoming those specialists in the under 12 grade, Maryland/Tang in a well contested replay that lived up to expectations. In front after the opening quarter, Bunbrosna found themselves trailing by two pts at half-time and when they fell four pts behind early in the second period they looked in trouble. However, a well taken goal for Bunbrosna cut the leeway to a pt, and then a purple patch saw the same team kick five unanswered pts to lead by four as full-time approached. To their credit Maryland/Tang did not wilt and they proceeded to put great pressure on the Bunbrosna defence but a solitary pt was their only reward. Bunbrosna therefore were champions after two exciting matches but the role played by Maryland/Tang was a handsome one and they should be saluted for this, if only for that fact alone. Team: John Cunningham, Colm Donoghue, Stephanie Reynolds, Stephan Martin, Gareth Russell, David Reynolds, Conor Farrell, Tom Browne, Conor Smith, James Reynolds, James Higgins, Derek Higgins, Ronan Moran, Ciaran O’Connor, Alan Quinn. Subs Patrick McCormack.
